The two recorded a duet album in 1971 called Two Champions. At the same time Burke also recorded a solo disc. Burke remained active in Ireland both as a solo artist and as a guest on various recordings and tours. From 1988 to 1992 he returned to the United States, settling in St. Louis, where he worked in local bars and had his own radio show. In 1990 he married musician Anne Conroy, who plays accordion and guitar, and the two have performed as a duo since. In 1992 they returned to Ireland to live on a farm in Burke’s hometown of Kilnadeema.
